Siddhartha

Siddhartha's relationship with Kamala reflects in my beleifs very poorly because in my beleifs if you love somone and have a child with them you should love them through sickness and death. You should not leave your lover because my religion would not approve of that. I know that Siddhartha leaves Kamala because of this quote; "The same night, Siddhartha left his garden and Kamala and never came back."- page 85. This quote shows that Siddhartha blatenly left Kamala when they needed to tend to their child. Siddhartha leaves her because he has not foud hiimself and the author is saying that life is about finding yourself and I do not agree with what he is doing. I also think that Siddartha's relationship with Kamala does not reflaect well with my beleifs because neither of them can love. We know that Kamala cannot love because because she is a courtesan so she doesn't know what real love is. Siddhartha cannot love because he is consumed by his quest for himself so he cannot love. These are the reasons that their relationship does not reflect well with my beleifs.

  1. Your quote describes the literal meaning of the narration: Siddhartha left Kamala. That is not a particularly deep insight. More interesting would have been a quote that illustrates your belief that the author is saying that life is about finding yourself. That's a well-stated theme. Unfortunately, you don't pursue this idea much in your paragraph. It's valid to disagree with an author's point, but I would hav eliked to see more overall discussion of it as well. This paragraph would earn a B- in a 5-paragraph essay.
